Vanilla Oat Milk

(PIC COMING SOON-AS I COOK IT AGAIN)
What is better than cow or goat milk?  You guessed it, your own fresh pressed and homemade milk.  I know I have been to the store several times and looked at the types of milk and thought to myself ummm look at these options – soy, rice, cashew, almond, oat and all in the form of white liquid milk.  MMMMM I got the thinking to why not make my own.  Enjoy this sweet tasting wonderful Oat Milk ladies and gentlemen.

Ingredients:
1 cup oats
1 cup unsweetened coconut flakes (optional)
6 cups water
¾ teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon sea salt

Directions:
1.  Soak both oats and coconut in water (in separate bowls) for about 15 minutes.

2.  Drain the coconut and place it in a blender.

3.  Drain and thoroughly rinse the oats until they no longer have a slimy feeling to them then add to the blender too.

4.  Add the 6 cups of water to the blender and blend for 1-2 minutes on high speed until completely smooth.

5.  Strain the mixture through a fine strainer or cheese cloth into a big bowl. Use a spatula or spoon to push the liquid through, you'll likely have to do this in batches depending on the size of your strainer.

6.  The oat and coconut pulp will be left in the strainer, you can save it for oatmeal/porridge, cookies, smoothies, etc.

7.  Pour the liquid back into the blender, add vanilla, cinnamon and salt and blend for about 20 seconds on high until fully incorporated and smooth.

8.  Repeat the strain and blender process one more time.

9.  Pour milk into a jar or can and keep refrigerated. Milk will last 4-5 days.

IT IS OK FOR YOUR MILK TO SEPARATE AFTER SITTING IN FRIDGE FOR SOME TIME….JUST GIVE IT A QUICK SHAKE EVERY TIME BEFORE USING.

LOVING FOOD IN PEACE...
